Cook Out ordering hacks fans actually use (2026)
Published August 11, 2026
Quick Answer: The useful “hacks” are everyday customizations: any burger Cook Out Style (chili, slaw, mustard, onion); half-and-half shakes; a quesadilla or corn dog in a tray side slot. There is no official secret menu.
Cook Out does not publish a secret menu. What follows are custom orders regulars ask for. Some are printed styles. Some are side swaps. Results vary by store. We do not attach invented calorie numbers to these.
Burger hacks (1–8)
1. Cook Out Style on any burger
Ask for any burger Cook Out Style: chili, slaw, mustard, onions. Works on the Huge Burger, Veggie Burger, and a plain hamburger at most stores.
2. Extra patty on a Big Double
An extra patty on a Big Double sometimes costs less than jumping to a Huge Burger. Ask the price before you commit.
3. Bacon on more than burgers
Bacon can go on burgers, wraps, and sometimes fries. Typical upcharge is small (often around $0.50). Confirm locally.
4. No bun / lettuce wrap
Ask for lettuce instead of a bun if you want fewer carbs. Many stores will do it. We will not invent how many calories that “saves.”
5. Extra veggies (usually free)
Extra lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and mustard are commonly free. Useful volume without another fried side.
6. Combine two styles
“Cook Out Style with bacon” or “Cheddar Style with Cook Out sauce.” Some kitchens will combine; some will not.
7. A simple patty-melt-style order
Cheeseburger, grilled onions, no standard toppings, mustard. Close to a patty melt without a special name on the board.
8. Veggie Burger + Cook Out Style
Chili and slaw on the veggie patty is a flavorful vegetarian-leaning order. Chili is meat-based at most stores — not vegan. Ask if that matters to you.
Shake hacks (9–14)
9. Half and half
Any two flavors, no extra charge at most stores. Combos people repeat: Banana Pudding + Cheesecake, Chocolate + Peanut Butter, Strawberry + Vanilla.
10. Extra thick
Ask for extra thick (less milk). You may need a spoon.
11. Cheerwine Float plus shake mix
Cheerwine Float with vanilla and cheesecake mixed in. Ask politely; not every store will stack that.
12. Chocolate + cherry
Half chocolate, half cherry. Tastes like a chocolate-covered cherry, in shake form.
13. Caramel + peanut butter fudge
Half caramel, half peanut butter fudge. Very rich.
14. Seasonal watermelon + vanilla
When fresh watermelon is on the board (summer), half-and-half with vanilla is a lighter-tasting mix.
Tray hacks (15–20)
15. Quesadilla as a side
Chicken or beef quesadilla in a side slot. A second handheld inside the tray price when the store allows it.
16. Corn dog as a side
Same idea. Standalone corn dogs are cheap; inside a tray they are a second item you already paid for.
17. Drink swapped for a third side
Some locations will trade the drink for another side. Ask. Results vary.
18. Jr. Tray + shake upgrade
Jr. Tray plus the milkshake upgrade is often less than a Regular Tray plus a standalone shake. Do the local math at the window.
19. A lighter-style tray
Grilled chicken, slaw, tea. Skip the shake. That is a habit, not a published calorie target.
20. Walking taco extras
Extra cheese, jalapeños, or Cook Out Sauce. Often no charge. Ask.
Sauce and side hacks (21–25)
21. Extra sauces
Ask for extra sauces on the side with a tray. Many stores hand over a couple of cups.
22. Hushpuppies + honey mustard
A dip people swear by. Try it once.
23. Cajun fries + ranch
Spice plus a cool dip. Ask for a ranch cup.
24. Cheese bites + quesadilla sauce
Swap the default dip for the creamy jalapeño cheese sauce if they have it.
25. A cheap complete ticket
Jr. Tray, Cook Out Style hot dog, corn dog, fountain drink. Often the lowest full-meal total on the board.
