Allergen Notes

Cook Out allergen menu (unofficial)

Published September 7, 2026

Quick answer: There is no official Cook Out allergen PDF on this site. Use our allergen notes table as questions to ask, then believe the store. Shared fryers, buns, and shake blenders are the default. This is not medical advice.

Nutrition varies by location

Calories on the nutrition page are transcribed from Cook Out’s public PDF on cookout.com (retrieved August 31, 2026; the file is undated). We do not invent missing items. Confirm calories and allergens in-store. Unofficial tools on this site are planning sketches only.

People type cookout allergen menu when they need milk, wheat, peanut, or soy answers before the speaker. Cook Out is a burger-fry-shake kitchen. Cross-contact is not a rare accident; it is how the line is built. Competitor “allergen menu” pages often read like a lab chart. We will not pretend we ran a lab.

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Cook Out. Recipes change. Franchise habits differ. Official site: cookout.com. The reminder table lives on allergen information. This post is the how-to-ask and the failure modes.

How to use the unofficial table

Open allergen notes. Marks mean “often contains or may contain” for typical builds: buns (wheat, often soy), cheese and shakes (milk), hushpuppies (wheat, milk, egg, soy), cheese bites (milk, wheat, soy), Cajun fries (soy, wheat in seasoning on many boards). A blank cell is not “safe.” It means we did not mark a usual ingredient — sauces, oil, and the grill still exist.

Bring the question to the window in one sentence: the allergen, the item, and whether they can change gloves or use a clean blender. Listen. “We can try” is not a certification. If the answer is vague and the allergy is severe, skip the tray.

Milk

Cheese, Fancy Milkshakes, ranch, and anything creamy. “No cheese” is not dairy-free if the bun, bun oil, or a shared knife is in play. Tea and many fountain drinks are the simpler beverages — still ask about mix-ins. Dairy-free notes overlap the gluten-free post; neither post certifies a kitchen.

Wheat

Buns, hushpuppies, breaded chicken, and some fry seasonings. Shared fryer oil with breaded items is the usual pattern. A lettuce wrap is a request, not a gluten-free bun. Celiac protocols need the store’s words, not ours. Longer wheat writeup: Cook Out gluten free and gluten-free notes.

Peanuts, tree nuts, and the blender

Nut flavors live in the shake rail. Reese’s-style cups, peanut toppings, and whatever seasonal mix-in is on the board. The blender that just made a peanut shake is the same hardware as the next order unless staff tell you they have a dedicated cup and a real wash — not a rinse. We do not publish a store-by-store blender map.

If peanut is anaphylaxis-level, this is a conversation before money hits the window, or it is a different restaurant. We will not invent a “safe shake list.”

Soy, egg, fish, shellfish

Shared fryer, grill, and condiment bar

High-volume Cook Out lines share oil, spatulas, and topping stations. Cross-contact is the planning assumption. Glove changes help one ticket; they do not reset the fryer. Cheese bites, fries, and hushpuppies are the same family of fried sides — see cheese bites for the item, not for an allergen clearance.

What this page will not invent

We will not paste a fake FDA-style chart with ppm. We will not certify “peanut-free hours.” We will not attach official calories to allergen questions. Nutrition reminders: nutrition notes. Menu: menu.

Allergen menu FAQ

Does Cook Out have an allergen menu?
Cook Out does not publish a dated public allergen PDF that we can cite as official. This unofficial fan site keeps allergen notes as planning reminders. Confirm ingredients and prep with the store. This is not medical advice.
Does Cook Out use peanuts in milkshakes?
Peanut and tree-nut flavors and toppings show up in the shake lineup (Reese’s-style and similar). Shared blenders are the default at a high-volume shake bar. If peanut is a severe allergen, ask how they clean the blender and decide from that answer — not from a blog.
Is Cook Out wheat / gluten free?
It is a bun-and-fryer kitchen. See the gluten-free notes. Lettuce wraps are a request, not a certified gluten-free protocol.
What about milk, soy, and eggs?
Milk is obvious in cheese, shakes, and many creamy sauces. Soy is common in restaurant oils and buns. Egg can hide in breading, slaw, and hushpuppies. Marks on our reminder table mean “often contains or may contain.” A blank is not a guarantee of absence.
Is this the official Cook Out allergen chart?
No. This site is unofficial and not affiliated with Cook Out. cookout.com is the brand. We do not invent allergen certifications.
